CAPPY THOMPSON AND DICK WEISS: ALL OVER THE MAP

march 3 - april 2
first thursday artwalk: thursday, march3, 5-8pm

Traver Gallery is pleased to present Cappy Thompson and Dick Weiss: All Over the Map. This exhibition  includes a selection of handmade clay forms layered with colorfully detailed imagery.  Drawing on centuries  of inspiration ranging from modern day graffiti to 15th century folklore, this collaborative body of work  dynamically fuses two distinct voices into one, where imagery of animals, vegetation, and humans are  layered with every day stories and humor.

The characteristically rich narratives of Cappy Thompson, with influences ranging from Hindu to  Medieval  mythology join the political, comical and stream-of-consciousness anecdotes of Dick Weiss. The result is a  fresh new series of work that portrays an effortless conversation of ideas and  forms. It is a joyful celebration  of clay and paint media, deep friendship, and the collaborative  process that Thompson and Weiss have  shared for many years.

Thompson's work is held in esteemed collections such as the Art Gallery of Western Australia,  Perth,  Australia Chrysler Museum of Art, Norfolk, Virginia, Corning Museum of Glass, Corning, New  York, Tacoma  Art Museum, Tacoma, Washington. Weiss' work is held in important collections  throughout the world,  including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Corning Museum  of Glass, Corning, New York.
