Massimo’s fusion of ancient Muranese techniques with a contemporary flare for design results in an elegant body of work, which addresses the artist’s most profound inspiration – the beauty that surrounds him in Venice.
The artist’s murrina vessels recall the play of natural light on the varied textures found in the Venetian cityscape: water, stone, and brick. “I simply wanted to create a sense of movement in what is usually considered a static material, but when I saw the pattern I had created, I was instantly reminded of the canals in a Canaletto painting,” says Micheluzzi.
