Tim Edwards

Abstract in form and configuration, Edwards’s vessels play with perception of negative and positive space while referencing chance patterns, forms, and textures found in nature. Edwards explains, “Mostly I work with flattened blown shapes because of this interesting blurring that happens between the two-dimensional and three-dimensional.” He continues, “I have become increasingly interested in the way light defines and moves through objects and the spaces between.” His pieces achieve an exquisite balance, creating a subtle interplay between the muted luminosity of the denser tones and the white glow of the underlying clear glass. His work calls to mind such varied images as the play of light and shadow across corroded, weathered steel, an aerial view of waterhole patterns, or the furrows of plowed land.
