Traver Gallery is pleased to present Heike Brachlow:
Color Through Form. This exhibition marks Brachlow's premier exhibition with the gallery.

German born artist Heike Brachlow is a provocateur, inviting viewers to touch and play with her massive, precarious-seeming works of kiln cast glass. Her remarkably seductive sculptures reflect her fascination with movement and transformation, both in color and form.

Color is a crucial part of Brachlow's artistic exploration. Her experimentation into the interaction of color, form and light in solid transparent glass began during her PhD research, and has led to the production of her own unique glass colors. Adding metal oxides to the glass batch during the melting process allows the artist to create a personal palette consisting of mostly subtle tones and polychromatic colors. The forms show off the characteristics of the transparent, polychromatic colors; the subtle hues and values shifting almost magically with varying types of illumination.

Born and raised in Munich, Germany, Heike Brachlow discovered glass while living in New Zealand where she worked as apprentice in a small studio in Rotorua. She received her BA in 2004 from the University of Wolverhampton and her MA and PhD from the Royal College of Art in London. Brachlow's work can be found in the Glasmuseum Hentrich, The European Museum for Modern Glass, and The National Museums Scotland, in addition to other collections worldwide. She was a finalist for the International Glass Prize in 2012 and the Coburg Glass Prize in 2014.
